Welcome to the website for New Close Farm Shop - we supply fresh, organic and where possible local, fruit, vegetables, basic ingredients such as flours, pulses and cereals as well as other goods.

We now sell our own meat; our chickens and guinea fowl are free range and you may see them wandering around the farmyard and fields while our beef, lamb and pork is available according to supply.  Chickens and guinea fowl can be pre-ordered by phone or email.

We are proud of our range organic fruit and vegetables; we usually have up to fifty different types of fruit and veg.  Our range is larger than any of the local supermarkets, and, because we buy locally wherever possible and don't maintain large depots at the other end of the country, our prices are often cheaper too.

At Christmas, we give our customers the chance to pre-order the basic fruit and veg that they may need.  This is prepared and put aside to ensure that you get the full range.  Of course you can always add to your basket on the day...  The form can be downloaded by clicking here are returned by email or dropped in next time you visit.

Our newest venture is the range of jams, chutneys and assorted treats made only using fruit, veg and other ingredients that are available in the Farm Shop.  The Mrs Bees' range is made up of small batches of unusual, traditional spreads and preserves that are hand made for us by a long standing family friend.  Why not try our pickled pears with cold meat or a traditional chutney with cheese?

We are found between Sacriston and Witton Gilbert, near Durham City, just off the B6312.  If you are planning a visit, we are open Thursdays to Saturdays - this is to ensure we have our widest range of fresh produce.

Did you see the recent study that showed that organic food was healthier than the non-organic, intensively farmed equivalent?  This study was carried out at Nafferton in Northumberland on land owned by Newcastle University.  They are one of our suppliers and we regularly stock vegetables produced at that site.

Our ultra free range eggs are highly regarded by our customers, and if you are at all concerned about animal welfare, just visit us and you will almost certainly see them walking around the farm!

If you've already tried organic food you'll already be convinced of the quality of organic produce, if not, don't listen to us, but try some and let the food do the talking...

Some of our other products include some local speciality foods and drinks that may not be organic, but we ensure no artificial colourings, stabilisers or preservatives.  We are particularly interested in traditional locally produced foods and drinks.
