The Farm Shop
Welcome to our information page for the Farm Shop. New Close Farm itself dates from at least the 1730's and has seen a lot of changes. We’ve looked after it for the last 40 years or so, and for a long time kept dairy cattle, sheep and pigs as well as growing crops. What started as growing and selling a few items from a “polytunnel” in 2003 became the Farm Shop and now everything we grow and rear on the farm is sold through the shop or used in our Box Scheme.
Local, Organic and Affordable...
We feel strongly that eating locally produced and organic food is something that we can all aspire to. Organic food can be perceived as being much more expensive than non-organically produced food and Farm Shops are often thought of as an expensive or special-event destination; not at New Close Farm. We don't think that eating well and healthily should be regarded as a treat, and organic products should be affordable to everyone.
Why Go Anywhere Else?
These days, the shop has a great range of organic fruit and veg, our own and locally produced rare breed beef, lamb and pork (including traditionally cured and made bacon, gammon and sausages), our free range poultry, free range eggs, organic milk, cheese and butter, locally made bread, cakes, pies, etc (all made only using ingredients from the shop) and a wide range of organic groceries such as flours, grains, cereals, pasta, soups and more.
